Mahale Chimpanzee Tracking Tour - 5 Days

Day 1: Arusha – Mahale (Monday or Thursday)
Leave Arusha Airport at 0800 for Mahale via Katavi National Park (with Shared Charter Plane), picked-up by speed boat along the Lake Tanganyika Beach and transfer to Mahale National Park; after late lunch, few hours of chimpanzee tracking. Dinner and overnight at the Kungwe Beach Lodge

Day 2, 3 & 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Hiking in Mahale
Spend three full days of walking safari: starting with chimpanzee tracking in the mountain forest of Mahale, visiting the research center for Chimpanzee and Hiking to the waterfalls. Late afternoon spend sometime along the beach of Lake Tanganyika relaxing on the soft sand and watching the sun goes down or boat rides down the lake shores looking for hippos. Dinner and bonfire at the Kungwe Beach Lodge

Day 5: Return to Arusha (Thursday or Monday)
Breakfast at the camp, and then a boat ride in the Lake Tanganyika to the airstrip for 13:15 shared charter plane to Arusha, pickup from the Arusha Airport and transfer to your hotel in town

* The Shared Charter Planes Operate twice a week from Arusha to Mahale and from Mahale to Arusha: If you leave Arusha on Monday you will return on Thursday (4 Days Mahale). and if leave Arusha on Thursday you will return on Monday (5 Days Mahale)
* These flights may fly via Tabora to re-fuel but timings remain as above

Kungwe Beach Lodge

Kungwe Beach Lodge consists of 10 spacious and luxurious tents with en-suite facilities overlooking the crystal clear waters of Tanganyika. In the evenings, candlelit dinners are served either in unique dining area or on the beach to the sounds of an uninterrupted cacophony of beetles, crickets and birds and the calls of Chimpanzees in the forest.

Game viewing/ Chimpanzee tracking is done in the forest and we also climb to the Kakombe water falls in the park. Lunch at the camp and afternoon at leisure. Dinner at the camp

DAY 3: Gombe National Park - Kigoma
Breakfast at the camp then proceed on Game viewing/ chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Climb to the Jane’s peak at the park. Lunch at the camp. Departure to Kigoma by boat and accommodation is at Kigoma Hilltop Hotel after dinner at Sangara Restaurant

DAY 4: Kigoma
Breakfast at the hotel then drive to the airport/ Railway Station/ Harbour
